This Security and Privacy Statement applies to this website which is operated by CIGWELD Pty Ltd (ABN 56 007 226 815) (“CIGWELD”) under the domain name “www.cigweld.com.au”. This Security and Privacy Statement may also apply to services offered by CIGWELD on websites hosted by third parties. If so, express reference to this Security and Privacy Statement will be made on those websites. CIGWELD handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This statement also applies to the CIGWELD merchandise store.
CIGWELD understands and appreciates that you, as a CIGWELD website visitor, are concerned about your privacy and about the confidentiality and security of information we may gain about you online. CIGWELD is committed to protecting your privacy. This Security and Privacy Statement explains how your personal information will be treated as you access and interact with the CIGWELD website.
As the CIGWELD website develops and as technology evolves, CIGWELD will continue to strive to provide you with better and more customized services and with a more effective website. Information collected
The information that CIGWELD collects about you is dependent on how you use the facilities offered by the CIGWELD website.
If you visit an unsecure area of the CIGWELD website (that is, an area where you are not required to log on) to read, browse or download information, our system will record the date and time of your visit to our site, the pages viewed and any information downloaded. However, our systems do not seek to record any information that directly identifies you. Technical information such as your IP address, browser type and device may be collected through cookies and analytics tools (see “Advertising and tracking” and “Cookies” below).
The CIGWELD website offers a number of interactive facilities including tools such as “welding calculators” and “what should I buy” applications, as well as online surveys, application forms and competition forms. These forms have data capture facilities inbuilt into them – some content we will use for analytics only, but form submissions we will keep and add to our contact database. Being on our contact database does not by itself mean you have agreed to receive marketing (see below).
If you decide to complete an online application form or online survey, the information that you enter into the online form or survey will only be collected by CIGWELD if you submit your online application or survey. If at any stage you cancel your application or log out prior to submitting your application or survey, the information you have entered up to that point will be automatically deleted.
When a form is submitted, CIGWELD collects personal information for the initial purpose, and may disclose such information to relevant third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry / submission is conditional on providing this information. CIGWELD may also use the information for research and to improve its products and services and, for competitions, to run the promotion and announce winners as set out in the competition terms and conditions. CIGWELD will send you marketing messages (by email, SMS or phone) only if you have given consent, for example by ticking an optional, un-ticked opt-in box on the form, or where the law otherwise allows. Submitting an enquiry, registration or competition form does not on its own mean you have agreed to receive marketing. Every marketing message will identify CIGWELD and include a way to unsubscribe, and CIGWELD will action unsubscribe requests within 5 business days. CIGWELD keeps a record of when and how you gave your consent.
Purchases from the CIGWELD merchandise store
If you buy from the CIGWELD merchandise store, CIGWELD collects the personal information needed to process and deliver your order. This includes your name, email address, phone number, delivery and billing address, order details and any messages you send us about your order. CIGWELD uses this information to process your payment, dispatch your order, send order confirmations and tax invoices, handle returns, refunds and enquiries, detect and prevent fraud, and meet its legal, tax and record-keeping obligations.
Payments are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment provider. You enter your card details directly into Stripe’s secure payment form, and CIGWELD does not store your full card details. Stripe collects and uses payment and device information in accordance with its own privacy policy (stripe.com/privacy), including for fraud prevention. CIGWELD may disclose your information to service providers who help operate the store, such as Stripe, delivery carriers, website and email service providers and IT support, and to related companies. Some of these recipients may store or access your information outside Australia (see “Disclosure of information overseas” below).
Order and payment records are kept for at least [7] years to meet tax and legal requirements, and are then securely deleted or de-identified. Placing an order does not automatically add you to CIGWELD’s email database. CIGWELD will send you marketing messages about the merchandise store only if you have opted in, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in each message. Advertising and tracking
CIGWELD uses Google Adwords, Admob, Adword, Adsense Services (Double Click) to deliver its online advertising where CIGWELD banner advertisements are placed on Third Party websites (herein called an ‘Advertising Company’). [CIGWELD may also use other advertising and analytics tools, such as the Meta (Facebook) pixel and Google Pixel.]

When you access the CIGWELD website after viewing a CIGWELD advertisement on a Third Party website, the advertising company collects information on how you utilize the CIGWELD website (for example which pages you view) and whether you complete an online application.
In addition, CIGWELD also uses Google Analytics tracking software to collect information on how you utilize the CIGWELD website. This tracking software also uses cookies to collect information like that collected by the advertising company.
The advertising company and tracking software companies use that information to perform statistical analyses of aggregate user behavior, but those analyses are not based on personal information. CIGWELD uses those analyses to measure advertising effectiveness and relative consumer interest in the various areas of the CIGWELD website. As a general rule, no personal information is collected by the Companies in this process. If, however, any information is automatically collected, these companies are required under their arrangements with CIGWELD to maintain the privacy and confidentiality of that personal information. How we handle email
We will preserve the content of any e-mail that you send us, if we believe that we have a legal requirement to do so. Your e-mail message content may be monitored by our CIGWELD employees for security issues including where e-mail abuse is suspected; our response to you may be monitored for quality assurance issues. Please do not send payment card details by email. If you do, CIGWELD will delete them and ask you to pay through our secure payment page.
Use and Disclosure of Information
We will only use or disclose personal information or information generated by cookies in accordance with the CIGWELD Privacy Policy, specific and additional provisions relating to privacy which apply to certain areas of the CIGWELD website and as otherwise set out in this Security and Privacy Statement. Exception is where you have entered a competition or promotion wherein the associated terms and conditions will be overriding. CIGWELD may disclose personal information to its related companies and to service providers that help it operate the CIGWELD website and provide its services (for example hosting, IT, email, payment, delivery and marketing providers), and where required or authorized by law.
Disclosure of information overseas
CIGWELD may disclose personal information to related companies and service providers located outside Australia, including in the United States, [India] and [other countries]. This may happen, for example, when your information is stored on overseas servers, processed by Stripe or our website and email providers, or accessed by CIGWELD group staff who support the website. Where CIGWELD does this, it takes reasonable steps to make sure the recipient handles your information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
Security, retention and data breaches
CIGWELD takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorized access, including by limiting who can access it and requiring secure logins. CIGWELD keeps personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this statement or as the law requires, and then securely deletes or de-identifies it. If CIGWELD has a data breach that is likely to cause serious harm, it will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.
Access, correction and complaints
You can ask to access or correct the personal information CIGWELD holds about you by contacting CIGWELD at support@cigweld.com.au. CIGWELD will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. If you have a privacy complaint, contact CIGWELD at the same address and we will investigate and reply in writing.
